Records
Polesworth Abbey has parish records going back to 1631. These records include Registers of baptism, marriages and burials in the parish. They are complete and make fascinating reading especially for those who are researching their family tree. It is possible to make archive searches for visitors who are welcome to contact Polesworth Abbey with their details. Registers can be seen at Polesworth Abbey, but please make arrangements before arriving since the records are not instantly available. Please be in touch with the Parish Office and make arrangements for your visit. You will be made most welcome. Not all the Polesworth Parish Records are kept in Polesworth. It is often interesting to exchange information about family history, and there are often questions about the Churchyard and memorials to relatives. Unfortunately there are no records about the site of particular graves until quite recently. The location of burials in the Churchyard prior to 1964 are often difficult to locate.
There is a list of the older tombstones and their inscriptions which can be made available for visitors to browse through. This is a type written document, the result of a survey by the Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry. Those who are interested are welcome to search among the memorials in the Churchyard or to see the list of Inscriptions.
Please be in touch with the Parish Office.
